MRCWC Dreadnought #59

8 august 1985 - Blackpool, Lancashire, UK – Rigby Road. The only surviving ‘Dreadnought’ tram with the strange Shrewsbury staircase, designed so that people could get on and off quickly. These trams were unique to Blackpool and named after a battleship because of their size. The driver stands between the two staircases – it’s the same at both ends, of course. After featuring in the 1985 Blackpool tramway centenary, this tram went back into store and can’t be seen at the moment.
